Luis Burgos
Commisioner, Department of Recreation and Youth Services, City of Rochester
Luis Burgos was educated in Rochester public schools, Hobart College, City of Rochester management and leadership programs, and the National Recreation and Parks Association Executive School.
He has been employed by the City of Rochester since 1982 in various assignments and is currently responsible for management of Recreation/Community Centers; Genesee Valley Arena; Manhattan Square Park Ice Rink/Fountain; City park lodges; City youth development programs; summer food services; City park stewardship and development; the Public Market; and the Office of Employment Opportunity.
He has served on the boards of directors for the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, Borinquen Dance Theater, Huether-Doyle, Rochester Love-15, and currently serving as Vice President for both NeighborWorks Rochester, Inc. and Puerto Rican Festival, Inc. Furthermore, he represents the City of Rochester as a member of the Greater Rochester After School Alliance, Children’s System of Care Committee, Healthy Kids Policy Team, and the Do the Right Thing Board of Directors.
