Margarita G. Reyes
Bilingual Special Education Specialist, Monroe 1 BOCES

Margarita Reyes was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She moved to the United States in 1972. She is the mother of three girls who have given her the joy of grandchildren. She completed a Bachelor’s degree at Buffalo State College and later on obtained a Master’s in Bilingual Education and Administration at Brockport State College. For the last twenty one years, she has been involved in the field of education. Margarita worked for the Rochester City School District for 14 years and is now working at Monroe 1 BOCES as a Bilingual Special Education Specialist.

As a strong advocate for the second language learners’ education, she has been involved for many years with the New York State Association for Bilingual Education for which she has served as a Delegate, First Vice-President and now as the President. Margarita has been part of the Puerto Rican Festival Board for the last six years. She began volunteering as a Vendor Coordinator and is currently the Treasurer.
