Orlando Ortiz was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico. He came to Rochester, NY along with his family in 1991 and has resided there since. Orlando attended Edison Technical Vocational High School specializing in machine shop technology. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Monroe Community College and graduated earning his Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Orlando then attended Rochester Institute of Technology where he achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and most recently a Master’s of Business Administration. Orlando has worked in a Manufacturing environment for the last 12 years and as a Manufacturing Engineer for the last 6 years. He currently works at Stone Construction Equipment in Honeoye, NY.

While at RIT, Orlando joined Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. where he got involved with different clubs on campus holding various executive board positions, help setup community services with the Rochester community, and improve his leadership skills. He currently serves as the Chief Alumni Relations Officer on the national board. Through Lambda Alpha Upsilon, he was able to recruit some of the Hermanos of the fraternity and volunteer for the Puerto Rican Festival. He then went on to volunteer for a couple of years and then was asked to join the Puerto Rican Festival board as the volunteer coordinator in 2005. Going on his 6th year on the board, Orlando continued to serve as the volunteer coordinator for a couple years, treasurer for a couple, and was elected as the president after the 2008 Puerto Rican Festival.
